Lockhouse Gallery, a fresh addition to the Washington, D.C., art scene, opened in May 2025. Located in a historic river town near the picturesque Potomac River and the C&O Canal, the gallery offers collectors easy access from Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. It features a powerful roster of 31 artists, many of whom are highly decorated and nationally recognized. The gallery exhibits painters alongside a select group of metalsmiths/jewelers and sculptors. Many of these artists were taught or mentored by Walter Bartman, one of the country's most influential painting teachers, whose work is also on display.
Owned and operated by Kimberly Yourick, a painter and metalsmith with a BFA from Washington University in St. Louis, the gallery reflects her diverse curatorial vision. Available works span realism, impressionism, folk, primitive, abstract, neo-expressionism, and figurative sculpture, with paintings ranging from miniatures to large-scale. Lockhouse Gallery was built on a unique, welcoming philosophy that emphasizes a friendly space, accessible pricing, salon-style hanging, low-pressure buying, and engaging community events like artist talks, demonstrations, and free gatherings.
